Questions Asked
The following are the questions asked by Logan Paul to Cliffe Knechtle in the podcast.
What denomination is Cliff and Stuart subscribed to?
They’re pastor’s of an interdenominational church, they’re more concerned on how you respond to Jesus Christ. How have you responded to Jesus Christ not how you responded to organised religion.
What is God trying to teach us in a moment of school shooting hard ships etc? and how is this things exists when God exists?
Firstly, Any paster or spiritual leader who says they know the answer, you should run away as fast as possible.
Secondly, It’s an sin issue, Genesis 3 talks about a great fall and great breakdown that cracked the door wide open for any type of entropy to occur.
Thirdly, if you don’t believe in God what is evil? The term does not make any sense. You need to have a God to have evil because it ushers in moral obligation that this is really right this is really wrong.
Fourthly, We have a suffering servant. We worship the only God who claims to suffer with us and historically suffered himself in the worse way imaginal, physically and spiritually on that cross.
Lastly, What are you going to turn to? What are you going to do when your close ones are on their death bed? You going to say this is it? or do you want them to live?
Have you ever been challenged scientific explanation on what happens when we die?
Documented near-death experiences that often people describe a similar experience. The commonality is leaving your body, a floating experience, common agreement on was seen over two people in the room.
What is a soul?
A soul is the person. The real you and the real me. We have personhood, which means we’re not just complex biochemical reaction. If there is no God, we are just simply robots (flesh puppets).
Some people say that we’re more than that just complex biochemical reaction. If there’s no creator who creates us. We are just matter and energy evolved to a higher order. There’s no soul, there’s no me. It’s just a complex chemical reaction in our brains that we call ourselves that’s just an illusion.
Cliffe says that baloney. There is a real you. You are created in the image of God with a soul which means a free will, ability to love/hate, ability to forgive or seek revenge, you have a rational mind, you don’t have to believe in something, you can choose to. The only thing that this can be real is that we’re more than you than your complex chemical reaction.
Beyond that perquisite of acceptance of Christ into your heart and a continued path of following Christ as a way to go to heaven? Is there any other perquisite?
There’s no mortal sins. When Jesus was on the cross there were 2 thief’s. Jesus’s value system is on the line when different thief’s spoke to him. But he said that he’ll be with me in paradise and that’s God’s Grace underserved offer forgiveness and his generosity.
Jesus saved his most scathing words towards religious hypocrites. Hypocrisy is pretending to be someone when I am not.
We only can go to heaven not because I lived a good life, we are going to heaven because of his grace and his offer for forgiveness. If our faith in him is genuine, it will shown in the way I love him, honour him and obey him.
We are all imperfect Christians, at the end of the day, do we all in some way become those religious hypocrites?
An hypocrite is someone who’s playing a stupid game, if someone says sorry for elbowing you, but I can hardly wait to do it again… this is one hypocritical dude. Intent, motive from the heart.
Can someone can just live a whole life being bad or acting immorally and the last second on their deathbeds, they accept Jesus and to be saved?
Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard: In Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard, where workers hired at the last hour receive the same wage as those who worked all day. This parable illustrates the idea that God’s grace is not given based on the length or merit of one’s service but rather on His generosity and mercy.
Grace and Forgiveness: Christianity teaches that God’s grace and forgiveness are available to everyone, regardless of their past actions, as long as they genuinely repent and accept Jesus Christ as their saviour. This is supported by passages such as Ephesians 2:8-9, which emphasizes that salvation is a gift from God, not something earned by human effort.
The Thief on the Cross: One of the most powerful examples is the story of the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43). One of the criminals crucified alongside Jesus repents and acknowledges Jesus’ innocence and kingship. Jesus assures him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” This story demonstrates that sincere repentance, even at the last moment, can lead to salvation.
- Genuine Repentance: The sincerity of repentance is crucial. It’s not merely about saying the right words but about a genuine change of heart and turning towards God. True repentance involves recognizing one’s sins, feeling remorse, and committing to live according to God’s will.
- Consequences of Actions: While forgiveness is available, the consequences of one’s actions on earth might remain. Relationships, reputation, and other aspects of life might still bear the scars of past actions. However, from an eternal perspective, God’s forgiveness through Christ cleanses one from sin.
Do you believe that there’s good and bad human beings?
We are all created in the image of God, we all have conscience, so every single human being does good at times and we do evil at times. Hence, that’s why we need Jesus Christ, his forgiveness, his grace, his strength to change.
How to Forgive When It’s So Hard?
You need to ask Jesus strength to love someone who you absolutely hate. You can’t depend on your own strength. You need to ask God or his strength to forgive someone.
Hatred, resentment and anger in general is a heavy feeling to hold in your heart. Carrying this along does not serve me any positive way.
Logon: The amount of accountability he had for the 2017 Japan incident, and the teachings that that led me and brought me through. Now he carries it everyday in life.
Does the soul define the person, based on their life experiences?
A soul is shaped by human experiences, and each individual is influenced by the unique events in their life. If there were 100 different versions of you, would Cliff still become a minister in every scenario?
Cliff doesn’t think so, as that notion aligns with determinism or fatalism. He believes that our paths are not pre-determined. This brings us to the issue of free will; life is not a scripted journey.
As human beings created in the image of God, we are endowed with free will (God limits his power), allowing us to make our own choices. While God gives us this freedom, He also holds us responsible for our actions.
What about a baby or a child? They’re essentially a blank canvas about life.
Cliff believes that when babies dies, they are in heaven, due to how Jesus treats children.
Luke 18:15-17 Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Does God Exist?
We can’t definitively prove God’s existence, just as we can’t prove many things in life.
Cliff argues that a mother’s love isn’t merely a chemical reaction. Throughout your life, your mother has chosen to care for you, provide for you, protect you, and make sacrifices for you. This goes far beyond basic animal instinct; it is a conscious decision to love and care deeply.
The experience of love points to a reality that includes some concept of God. But who is this God? This is where the teachings of Jesus, Muhammad, and Buddha come in, each claiming to reveal the true nature of God.
Why Christianity?
The historical evidence shows that Jesus lived a sinless life and taught profound ethical lessons, such as those in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). He was crucified, and as he died, he prayed for forgiveness for those who killed him, saying they did not know what they were doing. Three days after his death, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to over 500 people (1 Corinthians 15).
Logan asked, “How do you know that?” Cliff replied, “The same way you know George Washington was the first president of the USA or that Adolf Hitler committed his atrocities. It’s called historical knowledge.”
Addressing Logan’s Argument
Logan argued that more recent events are better documented than those of Christ’s time. However, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John provide a reliable historical record, supported by over 5,800 Greek manuscripts, 10,000 Latin Vulgate manuscripts, and 9,800 manuscripts in Ethiopic, Coptic, Armenian, Syriac, Gothic, and Slavic languages.
Christianity Embraces Doubt
Christianity acknowledges doubt as a natural part of faith. Figures like David, Job, and Thomas the Apostle experienced doubts and questioned God, yet they remain integral to the faith’s narrative.
Is Rejection of Christ the Path to Hell?
The fundamental reason people may find themselves in a state akin to hell is their separation from God. This separation is the consequence of living apart from Christ.
Jesus unequivocally mandates love for his followers. There is no room for hatred; followers must love, accept, and be tolerant. This mandate stems from the example of Jesus praying for his enemies while dying on the cross, epitomizing tolerance.
Intolerance, bigotry, and hatred are incompatible with genuine followership of Christ.
Everyone adheres to certain truths; the question is, what evidence supports these truths? Your everyday ethical decisions reveal what you truly believe about reality.
Logan raised the question of intuition versus social programming. While society undeniably influences us, there is profound respect for those who follow their conscience rather than conforming to societal norms.
We admire individuals who resist societal pressure and instead choose to exercise their rationality and conscience to make decisions they deem best.
If humans were solely products of their environment, devoid of free will, we would be mere products of our surroundings. While our environment does wield considerable influence, it does not dictate our choices. We have the capacity to resist and diverge from societal expectations.
Intolerance between organised Religions in General
Logan expresses discomfort with the notion that believing in Jesus is the exclusive path to heaven, leaving all others condemned.
Faith’s authenticity should not be solely rooted in passion. For instance, passionately believing that thin ice can hold your weight won’t prevent you from falling through.
Faith’s legitimacy hinges on the reliability of its object.
If the ice is thick and you have even a modest belief in its strength, stepping onto it will support you.
My salvation doesn’t hinge on my passion or sincerity; it originates from acknowledging my sinful nature, believing in Christ’s sacrifice, and placing my faith in Him.
The essence of faith lies not in passion or sincerity but in the trustworthiness of its object.
Just as trusting a criminal leads to deceit, trusting a reliable person yields positive outcomes.
However, being overly sceptical, or hyper-sceptical, can be detrimental. While scepticism has its merits, excessive doubt can lead to missing out on positive experiences.
Science and Faith in God
Science can demonstrate that putting poison in someone’s tea will result in their death. However, science cannot address the ethical question of why it is wrong to kill that person. This is an ethical dilemma that falls outside the realm of scientific inquiry.
Science is focused on understanding and explaining physical processes. It can tell us how things happen, but it cannot guide us on whether those actions should be taken.
Moral and ethical questions lie beyond the scope of scientific investigation. While science provides us with factual knowledge about the natural world, it does not offer answers to questions of morality and purpose.
There are different realms of truth: scientific truth, ethical truth, and spiritual truth. Each plays a crucial role in our understanding of the world and our place within it.
Scientific truth deals with empirical evidence and observable phenomena. Ethical truth concerns our principles and values, guiding us in making decisions about right and wrong. Spiritual truth, on the other hand, pertains to our experiences and beliefs about God and the divine.
In exploring the relationship between science and faith, it’s important to recognize that they address different types of questions and offer different kinds of answers. While science can enhance our understanding of the physical universe, faith provides meaning, purpose, and ethical direction in our lives. Embracing both allows for a more holistic approach to comprehending our existence and our responsibilities.
What makes a people valuable?
Without considering God, it becomes challenging to find a basis for the inherent value of people.
Logan questioned why God would create individuals who commit atrocities.
God created humanity with the intention of love and mutual respect, but He also chose to limit His power by granting us free will. This means that while God desires goodness, He allows people the freedom to choose their actions, even if some choose wrongly.
Does animals go to Heaven?
The Bible does not provide a clear answer on whether animals go to heaven. However, it does affirm that God cares for all His creation. In Isaiah 11:6-9, a prophetic vision of God’s kingdom includes animals living in harmony.
Is Bible anti-Evolution?
The Bible is not necessarily anti-evolution. Many Christians, like Cliff, view evolution as a process rather than the origin of life. The Bible focuses on the divine creation of life and the universe. Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
